House church is not primarily a small group

but we do keep them small

House church is not primarily a bible study

But we do discuss the bible

House church is not primarily

a prayer group or support group

But we do pray & meet needs

House church is not primarily an

activism group

But we do carry out mission

House church is not primarily

a social Gathering

but we are in each other's lives often

House church is not primarily

a weekly event

But we do meet weekly

House church is not primarily a bible study

But we do teach and discuss the bible

Instead of all these things,

house church is a Family

What is House church?

House Church is no less vital than Gathered or Scattered worship. In fact, we actually believe it is the best place for you to live in and experience the gospel identities of a family (Eph. 2:19-20, 1 Thess. 2:8) of disciples (Mt. 16:24, 11:29) on mission (Mt. 28:18-20, John 20:21).

House Church is the place where Emmaus folk participate in the radically inclusive table fellowship from which the name of our church derives. At Emmaus Church, we believe the revelation of Jesus is incomplete with preaching alone but must be accompanied by table fellowship/the breaking of bread with one another.

House Church is not a small group, it’s not a Bible study, a support group, a prayer meeting, or a social gathering.  In many ways, it is a combination of various elements of all of those types of gatherings with a neighborhood focus.  Our passion is to advance the gospel in the neighborhoods where we have House Churches and to love our neighbors well.

Therefore, House Churches are organized based on proximity. That means everyone is encouraged to go to the House Church closest to where they live. We believe forming House Churches based on proximity helps to constantly reinforce a vision of my neighborhood as my primary mission field.  House Churches are composed of ordinary people doing ordinary things with gospel intentionality.

If you know someone in a House Church nearby, by all means, jump right in.  Our House Churches are accustomed to having new folks drop in.  If you have any questions or would like help finding a House Church, please contact us.
